Stanford Animal Welfare is where both of my fur children come from, so I have a special place in my heart for these amazing people who care for the abused and unwanted animals in our village.

First there was Tom Jones, who has been my keen studio assistant since 2017. He was removed from an abusive home and spent four months at Stanford Animal Welfare before moving in with me in my Bagatelle Farm barn loft apartment.

As you can see, Tom not only takes his studio duties seriously, but he’s a stickler for keeping on top of the admin.

Tom making sure I do the admin, notice the back feet 😂

Just over a year later, we moved into the village and that was when Fred came into our lives. She (yes, she) was regularly showing up at a local coffee shop and making a bit of a nuisance of herself with their patrons, so after a while was taken to Stanford Animal Welfare. We had met her at the coffee shop and liked her, so we swooped in and adopted her quickly.

Tom was not impressed at all at first, but after a few weeks they became firm friends and now love each other devotedly.

The sweet little Fred.
Making friends at last.

I have created 11 little paintings for the Art in the Sun fundraiser (all A5 size) that will be for sale on Saturday 5th December 2020, 9am to 1pm along with little artworks by lots of wonderful Stanford Artists. Artworks are R100 each and all proceeds go to Stanford Animal Welfare.
